Food plans

Recently my brother and sister in law have been told that they should not have children the old-fashioned way because of a medical condition she has. It hurts my feelings because I know how badly she wants kids, and I am sure they will both be awesome parents. I will keep my fingers crossed that something will work out for them.

Tonight I am cooking coq au vin! As is my usual way, I have two recipes, both from the Food Channel, which I will loosely use as the basis for my recipe. I have never made this before, but I have made Beef Bourginon and one of the recipes I have for the coq au vin is basically the same, only using chicken instead of beef. So I'm thinking that sounds pretty good. I will try to post how it goes!

I told my husband the other day that I am ready for cold weather to be here because I love cooking soups, stews, and anything that is usually considered comfort food.

I-pod maintenance

I have downloaded every CD my hubby and I own onto my Itunes. When I tried to sync my Ipod, I was informed that I had 23 GB of music and only 8 GB of Ipod space. Who knew?! So I have been going through all the songs in Itunes and unchecking some. Hopefully when I get finished, I will have unchecked 15 GB worth.

Tomatoes

I should have taken a picture of my tomatoes to show how big they are today. We actually have a tiny green one growing! I have to work tomorrow, but I'll try to take a pic tuesday.

A little explanation...

I guess I should explain a little about the name of my blog. I have nothing against kids or mommies or mommy blogging. I just get tired of reading about kids and only kids constantly. I understand that people talk/write about things that are important to them. I just think it would be nice if there were more blogs that were not kid-centered, and I decided to create one.

However, I am discovering that it seems I don't know what to write about! I have always been a lazy journaler, writing in spurts at best. I would like to be more regular, and I was hoping this blog would help me do that.

Just thinking

I get so ANGRY when people - strangers! - say things to me like "Oh, you'll change your mind!" when they find out I don't want kids. YOU DON'T KNOW ME!

Monday

Monday, yuck. Although I am not working so it could be worse. I have to work the next three days so I am just relaxing today. I am so glad I only work three days a week! Although they are LONG days- 12 hours work plus almost two hours total driving. But it's worth it to be off four days! It makes my husband jealous.

We spent the weekend doing lots of yard work - we put some rocks around our new energy-efficient air conditioner. Today there is a huge storm system headed this way and the weather man says we could get an inch an hour of rain! So to keep all those rocks from washing away, S came and put a wood border around the rocks. I also planted tomato plants in buckets. We used to plant a big garden, but we spend so much time camping in the summer that the garden kept getting out of control. So last year we scaled back and just planted two tomato plants and that was plenty for us.

I am learning about this blogging thing and I want to add some pictures. So here goes!!!!

By the way, my husband is mourning the day we got high-speed internet out here. I have become an addict. First I got addicted to other people's blogs. Now that I have created my own....I may have created a monster.

One thing I know already, I want to take more pictures!

The top two pictures were taken on Pawleys Island. We spent Easter weekend there with some friends who also have a blue heeler. Theirs is only 10 months old. Our dog Gracie is almost 8 years old. She was a little bit offended by Moxie's rambunctiousness but they ended up being good friends.

Well, I guess it's about time. I have been "lurking" on other people's blogs for an embarrassingly long time. (Apologies to Mama M, Mihow, Finslippy, Pioneer Woman, dooce and many others) It seemed like the proper thing to do would be to start my own blog.
